About CEMFORGE: 3D Concrete Printing Formulation Software
Built for 3D Concrete Printing — by a Materials Engineer Who Prints
Sunnyday Technologies, LLC | Founded by Nick Sonnentag | Wisconsin, USA
Purpose-Built 3D Concrete Printing Formulation Software
CEMFORGE is a purpose-built 3D concrete printing formulation engine developed by Sunnyday Technologies — a Wisconsin-based materials engineering company founded by Nick Sonnentag, a 30-year veteran of materials science with deep expertise in advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, and additive construction. Nick is an active participant in the emerging additive construction standards community and brings that standards awareness directly into CEMFORGE’s development priorities.
CEMFORGE is not a generic AI tool applied to concrete, nor a large language model wrapper that retrieves a published mix on request. It is a 3D concrete printing formulation platform built by a materials engineer with direct additive construction and advanced physical testing experience — bringing materials-science rigor to construction to deliver the data production environments actually need.
Our Mission
CEMFORGE exists to put data-driven 3D concrete printing formulation tools in the hands of every additive construction team — from university labs running first prints to production crews placing walls. We believe more controlled data, openly shared, produces better predictions for everyone. Every validated formulation on the platform improves accuracy for the next user.
3D Concrete Printing Formulation Backed by Real Printed Specimens
The CEMFORGE database is built entirely on validated additive construction concrete formulations sourced from real printed specimens. The dataset spans OPC-based, LC3, UHPC, and fiber-reinforced 3DCP systems, extracted from peer-reviewed, open-access academic publications. We do not include theoretical or unvalidated mix designs.
The platform processes every 3D concrete printing formulation request through a multi-stage pipeline: custom performance targeting, material resolution, particle packing physics, multi-model machine learning prediction, volumetric validation, set time optimization, and carbon footprint analysis. Each stage is grounded in the physical constraints that govern real concrete behaviour — not statistical correlation alone.
Our training data quality is evaluated against experimental standards established by organisations including RILEM and ACI before any formulation enters the training pipeline.
Built on Real Materials Science — Not Black-Box AI
Every 3D concrete printing formulation output from CEMFORGE is grounded in physical constraints. The engine applies:
- Particle Packing Physics — Aggregate and powder distributions validated against packing models before any prediction is generated.
- Database-Driven SCM Allocation — Supplementary cementitious materials selected and dosed based on actual performance outcomes in the training corpus.
- Superplasticizer Dosing — Workability targets matched to printability windows, not generic slump values.
- Volumetric Paste Validation — Outputs checked for volumetric closure. If a formulation does not physically balance, it does not ship.
- Multi-Model ML Selection — Competing models trained per property and per data tier. The best-performing model wins — no single architecture assumed superior.

Open-Source Hardware Companion: M3-CRETE
CEMFORGE formulations are designed to be validated on M3-CRETE — Sunnyday Technologies’ open-source, pallet-scale concrete 3D printer. The material platform and hardware platform are co-developed, ensuring that 3D concrete printing formulation outputs are calibrated against real wet-mix processes that account for mixing, pumping, printing, and curing conditions in a unified system.
This hardware-software integration closes the loop between formulation prediction and physical validation. When a formulation is printed and tested on M3-CRETE, that result feeds back into CEMFORGE’s training data — making both systems more accurate over time.
The Platform Gets Smarter With Every 3DCP Formulation
Every validated formulation added to the CEMFORGE database improves prediction accuracy for subsequent runs. The platform’s property-stratified training system means new data directly benefits users working in similar strength and application ranges. As the dataset grows, predictions tighten — the engine gets more precise as the user base grows.
This is a fundamental difference from static lookup tools or LLM-based assistants. CEMFORGE learns from real printed concrete, continuously. See our subscription tiers to understand how data access scales with your plan.
